Tool Palette ARROW
If the window is smaller than the image, clicking the left mouse button and dragging changes the Arrow into a Hand which will move the portion of the image you want to see into view.

ZOOM
Click on the Zoom Tool and put the magnifing glass on the image.  A left mouse click enlarges the image.  A right mouse click reduces the image.

DEFORM
The Deform Tool is used to rotate, resize, skew and distort layers, floating slections, and images.  Click the Deform button and manipulate the handles on the image or double-click the Deform button and enter settings in the dialog box.

CROP
Click on the Crop Tool and place the Crop Symbol in the corner and left click and drag to the point where you want to crop the image.  The area inside the box will be saved and the portion outside of the box will be deleted.  Click on "Image", then click on "Crop" to complete the action.

 

MOVER
Click on Mover Tool and put the symbol over the item you want to move.   Left click and drag to the position where you want to move it.

SELECTIONS
This tool lets you select a rectangular portion of the image by clicking and dragging.  Once the portion is selected, other tools can be used on this section without affecting the remainer of the image.

FREEHAND
Similar to the Selection Tool but allows you to draw a freehand pattern for your selection rather than limiting you to a retangular section.  To use, click and hold the left mouse button and trace a pattern around the portion of the image you wish to select.

MAGIC WAND
Instead of selecting an area by enclosing it like the Selections Tool and the Freehand Tool, the Magic Wand selects content.  There are four types of values to choose from:  RGB Value, Hue, Brightness and All Pixels.  To select, move the crosshairs of the cursor over the image.  Left click on the color you want to select.   Release the button and a marquee shows the selection.

DROPPER
The Dropper Tool allows you to select colors by putting the Dropper on the color and clicking the mouse.  Clicking the left mouse selects the foreground color, the right mouse selects the background color.  You will then see that the foreground or background color on the color palette has changed to the color you have just selected.  

PAINT BRUSH
The Paint Brush allows you to paint a portion of the image.  Using the left mouse button will paint in the foreground color and the right mouse button will paint in the background color.  Typing "O" will toggle the Controls Panel between visible and hidden.  The Controls Panel will allow you to make changes in the size and shape of the paint brush tip.

CLONE BRUSH
The Clone Brush is used to copy a portion of an image to another section of the image.  Cloning can be done between two images of the same color depth or within an image.  It can only be used on a 24-bit color or grey scale image.

COLOR REPLACER
This handy tool can replace one color with another by painting over it.  It will not affect other colors around the color being replaced.  For more information go to the Color Replacer Tutorial.

RETOUCH BRUSH
Apply photo retouching effects to an image with the Retouch Brush.  Click on the Retouch Button.  Typing "O" will toggle the Controls Panel between Hidden and Visible.  Select the effect you want from the Retouch Mode on the Tools Control Page on the Controls Panel.

ERASER
This tool will erase a color and replace it with the background color. If erasing layers, the color will be replaced by a transparency.  Typing "O" will toggle the Controls Panel between Hidden and Visible.  Choose opacity, hardness, size, density and step from the Brush Tip Page on the Controls Panel.

PICTURE TUBE
This clever feature allows you to add illustrations to your image.  Click on Picture Tube.  Typing "O" will toggle the Controls Panel between Hidden and Visible.  Choose the llustration you want to add to your image on the Controls Panel on the Tools Control Page.  Select the options button and after setting the options, click on your image where you want the Picture Tube illustrations to appear.

AIR BRUSH
The Air Brush gives the look of painting with an air brush or a spray paint can.   Click on Air Brush.  Select your foreground and background colors.   Typing "O" will toggle the Controls Panel between Hidden and Visible.   Select the Brush Tip setting you want to use in the Control Panels window.   You can also select a paper texture from the Tool Controls Page on the Controls Panel.  Press and hold the left mouse button to paint in the active foreground color.   Press and hold the right mouse button to paint with the active background colors.   To paint straight brush strokes hold down the shift key as you are painting.

FLOOD FILL
This tool lets you fill an area with a color, a pattern or a gradient.   Select the area to be filled or choose the background color to be filled.   Select the Flood Fill.  Typing "O" will toggle the Controls Panel between Hidden and Visible.  Select the type of fill you wish to use from the Tools Control Page on the Controls Panel .  Click on the area where the fill is to go and the area will be filled.

TEXT
The Text Tool allows you to add text to your image.  Select the foreground color that you want the color of your text to be.  Click the left mouse button on the area where you want your text to be on the image and the Add Text Dialog Box will appear.   Type in the text as you want it to appear.  Select the typestyle and type size.  Click "OK".  Use the Mover Tool to reposition the text.   Click on "Edit" and "Undo" to remove the text if it needs to be redone.

LINE
The line tool is for drawing straight lines and Bezier curves.  Click on the Line Tool.  Select the foreground and background colors.  Typing "O" will toggle the Controls Panel between Hidden and Visible. Select Normal or Bezier on the Tool Control tab on the Controls Panel.  Set the line's width.   Put the cursor where you want the line to start.  The left mouse button draws a line using the foreground color, and the right mouse button draws using the background color.  Hold down the mouse button and drag the cursor to where you want the line to end.  Release the mouse button.  Holding down the Shift key while drawing will draw lines at fixed angles in increments of 45 degrees.

SHAPES
Typing "O" will toggle the Controls Panel between Hidden and Visible.  Select the shape and other options you wish from the Tool Control Tab on the Controls Panel. Put the crosshairs of the cursor where you want the corners of the square or rectangle or the center of the ellipse or circle and drag until you have the size you are looking for and then release the mouse button.  The left mouse button will use the foreground color and the right mouse button will use the background color.
