There are four main ways that you can select colors in Paint Shop Pro.
From the Color Palette
From the Color Dialog Box
From the Select Color from the Palette dialog box
From the Image itself.

Selecting a color from the Color Palette The top part of the image on the left is the Color Palette. Moving the cursor over the Color Palette changes the cursor into the Dropper Tool and allows you to select a color by clicking the Dropper on it. A right click selects the background color and a left click selects the foreground color. The black and blue boxes on the left show the foreground and background colors. The black is the foreground and the blue is the background. Clicking on the arrow reverses the foreground and background colors. |
Clicking on either the foreground or background colors, as shown above, will bring up the Color Dialog Box as shown below.

Selecting from the "Basic Colors" Box
You can select one of the 48 Basic Colors in the upper left "Basic Colors" box
by clicking with the Dropper Tool on the color you are selecting. You will notice
that the RGB and HSL values, and the HTML code for the color change in the
"Current Color" section of the window. Click OK and the window will close
and the new color will appear in the foreground or background box.
Selecting from the "Color Wheel"
Selecting colors from the color wheel is a two step process:
1. Select the hue on the color wheel by clicking or dragging the dropper tool on the
color.
2. The box within the wheel is "Saturation/Lightness Box" which allows you
to adjust the saturation and lightness of the color you just selected in the "Color
Wheel". To adjust the saturation and lightness click or drag the dropper within
the box until you get the color you want.
You will notice that the RGB and HSL values and the HTML code for the color changes in the "Current Color" panel.
Click okay and the window will close and your new color will show in the foreground or background color box.
